Surple Selected For Tech Nation Net Zero 1.0
Today we’re excited to announce that we are one of 30 companies selected to join Tech Nation Net Zero 1.0.
It’s the first growth programme of its kind to support green companies helping the UK reach its goal of net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
We’re thrilled to be part of such a forward-thinking programme. We also find it encouraging that there are so many companies in the UK serious about tackling climate change and making a real difference.
Our CEO had this to say about being selected for the programme.
We’re excited to be part of a cohort that is both inspiring and making change for the better. We really have to think differently to get to net zero and we’re glad to be involved in a group of startups that are at the forefront of thinking differently.Peter Allan
The Net Zero Report
The announcement of the Net Zero cohort coincides with the release of Tech Nation’s Net Zero Report, which takes a closer look at the state of net zero tech within the UK, and around the world.
The report shows that the UK plays a leading role in tackling climate change through innovative technology. In 2019, the UK led Europe for VC investment in net zero companies at £336mn in VC investment. This was 55% more than France which received £216mn, and 18% more than Germany with £283mn. VC investment in net zero in the UK has grown by 28% from 2018 to 2019.
The Net Zero Report identified 323 net zero companies in the UK, which is more than in France (207) and Germany (150).
However, while big strides are being made, Surple agrees with Tech Nation’s statement that there is still much work to be done.
